School-Themed Happy Birthday Cards..Round 2

Hi everyone!!

I have been busy making more of the happy birthday cards for my sister-in-law.  I made about 35 more this past week and wanted to share them!  Making these are a lot more fun than I expected them to be.  I thought it would be more tedious, but it has been fun!! :)
That one is probably my favorite.  Although, I did something pretty stupid.  I welded the entire apple, "happy birthday," and the star together on my Gypsy...and then cut it out in all the different layers and put it together. Afterwords,  I realized this was taking me WAY TOO LONG, and I should have just cut out each individual piece and slapped them together instead of trying to layer one "happy birthday" on top of another. (With my bad eyes, anyway!!)  But those cards are still my favorite..even with all my un-necessary work! lol

I also made a few from the Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge, and tweaked them to my liking. (made my own layers, etc.)
And some party hat cards:
What's a birthday without ICE CREAM!??!
I had to make a few without sprinkles...because I don't like sprinkles! hehe
And here are some cute lil' pencils that I just love making!! :)
And there you have it!  Those are the next batch of my School-Themed, PTSO Happy Birthday Cards!!  They look pretty simple, but I do put a lot of work and time into my cards.  I am glad that I have a little more time to make these than the first batch, because I got to do some inking and extras that I typically do! :)  Now I am over half way done of the total amount she needed...but I still have about 40 more to make.
Thanks for looking!!

Academic Award Congrats!

Hi everyone!!

My nephew is being honored tonight at an academic awards ceremony.  He always has straight A's on his report cards!!  He is an AMAZING kid!   I wanted to make him a card to give to him after the ceremony tonight, so I went to work on it last night.

At first, I just wanted something real simple and quick, so I started working on a card... and while putting on the finishing touches of it, a different card popped into my head!!  It made me laugh, and it was more my nephew's sense of humor!  So this is what I came up with:

 And here's the sentiment:
HA HA HA HA!!

I also made a 'matching' gift card holder...a jeans pocket:
I am so happy because the card turned out just as I had pictured it in my head!! (LOVE when that happens!!)
I know that my nephew will get a chuckle out of it!!  Here is the card that I made first, it's cute too...just not my nephew's style. :)
Thanks for checking out my cards!!  I hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Flash Cards

Hello!

This is one of the projects that I was asked to do this past week, and got sidetracked with!!  My sister in law asked me to make 'sight words' flash cards for her kindergarten class over two years ago.  This was pre-cricut for me, so I just printed them on the computer.  She asked me again this week to make her two sets for her daughter who is in preschool (these sight words are for the kindergarten curriculum)  Of course, I had to make  them cuter than just normal flash cards....I do have a CRICUT now, and they're for my niece!  So I took normal white index cards that measured 4"x5" and used various patterned papers that I thought were cute.  I then used the Mickey Font Crucit Cartridge for all the words.  I liked that it was a bold font, a good one for flash cards!!  With the patterned papers, I had to keep in mind that they couldn't be too distracting from the sight word.

I then laminated them using my Your Story machine. (love that thing!)  I organized them into groups of 25 (for each quarter of the school year.)  Then I made a cover for each set of 25.  I used the Makin' The Grade cricut cartridge for the apples with the numbers, colored the leaf on them, and used Mickey Font again for the "sight words" title.  I used my Bind-It-All to bind them together. I think they turned out cute!!

The apple paper is from an All Seasons stack from the Paper Studio.  The apple paper was found in the 'back to school' section.  I again wanted something simple, and cute.  here is a picture of the front and back covers:

For set #2, this set she wanted to place various words around the house so my niece can see them on a daily basis.  For these, I wanted to make them something 'fun' to look at.  My niece LOVES mickey.  Her whole family loves everything Mickey, so I made the flash cards out of Mickey heads!!!

The mickey head is also from the Mickey Font Cricut Cartridge.  I used the San Serif Font cartridge for the words on this one because the Mickey heads are smaller, so the words couldn't be as 'fat.'  San Serif offered a thinner letter, that is still bold at the same time.
I made these double sided.  The first 50 is on one side while the last 50 is on the backs.  That way there weren't so many of them!  With these being three layers of good quality cardstock, the completed cards feel like chipboard!
I also laminated them (pictures were taken before this,) and punched a hole using my cropadile in one of mickey's ears, and put them on a jump ring for safe keeping.  That way, my sister-in-law can take off the words they want to work on that week, and keep the rest all together!

I hope my sister in law and niece like them, and have many hours of fun learning!!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project!!
