Hey!!
Ok guys, here's the deal... I've had this idea for about five years now. I have always wanted to do it for my Christmas cards, yet I have always been so sick and didn't have the time to experiment and play around with it. Until this year!!! I finally got to play, and oh my gosh I am SO EXCITED!!!
In case you don't want to watch the video, here is the gist of it. I have always wanted to glowing, like actual Christmas lights on my cards. They have those necklaces that blink and glow and flash, and I've wanted to incorporate those onto my cards somehow. The problem is, they are so bulky! Then, you have to hide the battery pack somewhere in the card. Then, if you're mailing it, you want the lights on so when the recipient gets it, the lights will be on (so they don't have to turn them on.) and who knows if the battery pack will last that long. ETC. Well, I got to thinking "What about glow in the dark paint!?" I have three different bottles from three different stores, and I tried two of them out so far. The one I use the most is by Americana, and it's just called Glow In The Dark Paint. The other one is by Tulip, and it's called Glow. They both work great! They are clear, so you can put it on top of ANYTHING without distorting the color. Then, when you're all done painting it on your projects, you just need to ensure that the project will be exposed to light, so that the Glow will work once the lights are turned off!
It is SO MUCH FUN! I've painted over a ton of Christmas lights that I cut using my Cricut. I've also painted over Christmas Light Stickers. I've painted over a fire in a fireplace. The flame of a candle. The list goes on and on! There are so many ideas, and once you try it out, you will think of a million more! And it is so fun to turn out the lights and see it glow! I think the kiddos in my family are going to LOVE it this year!! I'm not telling them that their card will glow either, I'm just going to wait and let them notice it for themselves!!
Well, I just had to share my brilliant idea (lol!!) with you guys! I hope you all try it out! If you do, I'd LOVE to see pictures of what you create! Keep in mind this is also super fun for Halloween! Making jack-o-lanterns glow, the moon, owls eyes, or anyone's eyes to make them spooky, etc! SOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!
Take care guys! Hope you're having a great weekend!
